How do you get from Malaga to Madrid for the same price as a flight but with less stress? The train from Malaga (Estación de Málaga-María Zambrano) to Madrid is the answer.
Straight away, it saves waiting up to two hours or more in the airport, which is the only other way to make the journey quickly. High-speed trains can cover the distance in about 2.5 hours.
AVE Ticket prices can range from €40 to €90, depending on the time of booking and class. Regional companies such as Omio usually charge between €20 and €40, and booking your ticket is straightforward.
The railway company Renfe has a user-friendly website and app for easy reservations. Third-party sites like Trainline also provide options for ticket purchases with promotions and ticket discounts, such as those over 60 or students.

Each passenger can take two pieces of luggage up to 25 kg each, plus a small bag or backpack. Like airports, they scan luggage at the train station before going to the platforms.
Although food is available on the train, you might like to take your drink and sandwiches. If not, you will have to wait until the trolley service arrives. One final tip: Get to the station at least 30 minutes before departure and immediately check the departure board. It will say if the train is delayed for any reason.
