The need for aircon

Spain is well known for its warm Mediterranean climate and rising temperatures, especially during the summer months, which means installing air conditioning systems has to be the norm now.

Spain and other Mediterranean countries have experienced a noticeable increase in average seasonal temperatures. As a result, traditional cooling methods, such as fans, are proving insufficient.

Because higher summer temperatures can pose health risks to the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions, efficient air conditioning systems are needed to mitigate the risks by maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. In addition to safeguarding health, a cooler indoor climate can improve sleep quality.

While the need for air conditioning is growing, any approach to a new installation must be based on energy efficiency. Modern split-unit air conditioning systems are designed to be energy-efficient by reducing consumption and minimizing environmental impact.

Thanks to the increase of renewable energy sources, such as solar power, the carbon footprint of air conditioning systems is further reduced, making them a more viable option for use in Spain.

Split-unit air conditioning units are advertised from 650€ installed. They are fine for small rooms. However, the need for more powerful units can raise the cost to 1500€ a unit for larger areas.

As with everything in life, if you are not a business or a tourist accommodation provider, you simply weigh up the costs of installation and running the unit against the need for comfort.
